From the last report of the United States unemployment rate, data shows it at 8.1%. This data was true until April of 2012. There is no denying that there is a flood of workers from all corners of the planet. It is a phenomenon that has haunted not just the economy of The United States of America but the economy of the entire globe.
Urbanization is the bulge of human population in urban areas. It is the immense concentration of people moving over from other regions of their respective nations, into the small patches of land that is more urbanized. The term urbanization has represented the extra ordinary increase in population of the world’s cities in a short span of time. This has side effects that we cannot all phantom. Its negative effects have only recently being unraveled by society. We now fear that the side effects would grow directly proportional to the growth of urbanization. Here are some negative effects of urbanization:
Unproportioned class segregation – this effect, in contrast with the others, is not so glaring – at first. You have to go deep into the local urban society you want to take a look at in order to see the harsh reality this effect brings. In an urban area there is the upper class, which usually has about 5% or lower of the population. After that there is the middle class which roughly constitutes a third of the population. Then after the middle class, there is the poor. This imbalance in population class triggers a domino effect which would lead to the other effects of urbanization.
Economy – the first effect discussed above is much like hormonal imbalance in our body. As funny as it may seem it is a sound metaphor. One hormone becomes unnaturally many thus out placing the normal ones that need to do their job which brings chaos inside the body. The burgeoning of one or two population class displaces the other. What this means is now the working class far out weights the upper class that starts businesses in a society. You see, typical hormonal imbalance. Only this ailment is much more complicated to treat.
Environmental effects – the most visible effects of all is the effects it has in the environment. The growth of a country’s economic hub or its city, no matter how good it sounds for us humans is bad news for any other living thing here on Earth.
